If you run a local service business, it's hard to drive leads without running paid advertising. While Local Service Ads are useful for some companies, they can be unpredictable overall.

I put together a tutorial to help go over Google Search Ads. A lot has changed for local service companies and the costs are higher than ever, but it still drives leads effectively.

Most local service businesses do well running Local Services Ads and Google Search Ads at the same time. LSAs display a "Google Guaranteed" badge and are generally at the very top, making them necessary. Search Ads will appear below Local Services Ads as sponsored results. You should be running both if you are trying to maximize your leads.

The two things that can impact businesses once the ads are running are response time and wasted clicks. Google pays attention to how fast you answer calls, so if leads are going to voicemail during the day, your rankings will suffer, and you are losing real money on every missed call. On the spending side, many budgets can be wasted on people looking for jobs, doing their own research, or just shopping around with no intention of hiring. Adding negative keywords to block that traffic takes maybe 10 minutes and can easily save you a few hundred, if not a few thousand, dollars per month.
